P&G Lima Plant gets US$400,000 rail grant

THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble’s Lima plant has been awarded a US$400,000 grant by the Ohio Rail Development Commission, according to a report published by LimaOhio.com.

THE DETAILS The US FMCG giant has pledged to invest some US$500 million in the facility in order to expand manufacturing capacity and warehousing space, creating 135 jobs.

THE WHY? The grant will help install on-site rail infrastructure, enabling product to be transported via the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern Railroad. ODRC Executive Director, Matthew Dietrich said in a statement, per LimaOhio.com, “We are proud to join JobsOhio and the Allen Economic Development Group in supporting P&G in this effort. This project will help to retain hundreds of current jobs at the facility as well as create new positions as a result.”
