Greenpeace exposes Unilever’s empty plastic promise

THE WHAT? Greenpeace has published a report claiming that Unilever’s plastic footprint has not decreased at all since it committed to using ‘less plastic, better plastic or no plastic’ and to cut virgin plastic use in half by 2025.

THE DETAILS The activist organisation claims that Unilever is the biggest corporate seller of plastic sachets in the world and is on course to sell more than 53 billion sachets this year. Just 0.2 percent of the FMCG manufacturer’s plastic packaging is currently reusable.

THE WHY? Greenpeace is hoping to expose the difference between what Unilever’s words and actions and inspire real change.
