L’Oréal seeks to have ‘vague’ hair relaxer suit thrown out

THE WHAT? L’Oréal has submitted a request to have a case that charges the French beauty giant with manufacturing and marketing ‘toxic’ hair relaxing products thrown out, according to a report published by Reuters.

THE DETAILS The filing submitted to a US federal judge by L’Oréal USA last week seeks to dismiss dozens of cases that were consolidated into a single suit in Illinois, with defence lawyers branding the plaintiffs’ accusations as ‘vague’.

THE WHY? L’Oréal is among several defendants named in the suit, which alleges that women who used hair relaxers frequently were at greater risk of developing uterine cancer. The French beauty giant maintains the claims are ‘unsupported’.
