Redken, a L’Oreal company, has won a prize for packaging innovation for its Blonde Idol Custom Tone Daily Conditioner, a uniquely designed bottle containing six dispensers.
The dispenser, which was produced by US-based manufacturing firm VariBlend, was chosen by a panel of experts at the PCD (Packaging Perfumes, Cosmetics & Design) Congress Awards 2015 as the recipient of the Packaging Innovation Award in the Hygiene and Hair Care category.
The six-chamber design allows consumers to formulate a personalized six-week hair regime by turning the dispenser head one stop each week to gradually dial in more colour.
Robert Brands, President and CEO of VariBlend commented, “Congratulations to Redken for this accomplishment. The jury’s selection of Redken’s innovative packaging platform, our first partnership with Redken, demonstrates the international appeal of custom-blending technology that delivers true added value to customers and consumers alike.”
The dispenser’s multi-chamber design is aimed at brand owners in a variety of product categories that require formulations of varying strength to be delivered over time. In addition to hair care, such categories include skin care, sunless tanning, and more.
Brands added, “Our partnerships with forward-thinking customers build brands and delivers exceptional return on investment. And consumers love our custom-blending feature because it is accurate, easy to use and reliable
