French shoe and handbag designer Christian Louboutin has opened his first beauty boutique in Paris, following the launch of the Louboutin nail lacquer range in 2014.
The beauty boutique, which Louboutin describes as “small shop or a big shrine…completely dedicated to beauty,” is located on Passage Vero-Dodat, the same street where Louboutin originally opened his first fashion boutiques.
The opening of the beauty boutique marks Louboutin’s 100th shop opening. It will house his range of 30 nail lacquers.
The façade of the shop, which is located on a historical passage in Paris, is registered as a historical landmark yet Louboutin collaborated with interior architect Pierre Yovanovitch to give the space a modern feel.
Yovanovitch commented, “I was handed this faceted nail colour bottle crowned with this black spear cap of galactic proportions. I immediately thought it would be compelling to establish a contemporary space, amidst this very historical Parisian passage, with design codes that redefine the new aesthetic approach of beauty so dear to Christian Louboutin.”
Yovanovitch added a stiletto-inspired tapering ceiling and created small alcoves in the walls, each housing a Louboutin polish.
