P&G shuffles management in bid to strengthen beauty business

Proctor & Gamble has reorganised key members of its managerial team in an effort to strengthen its beauty business.

David Taylor, Group President of Global Health and Grooming, will now also oversee beauty. The promotion puts him in charge of two of the company’s four business units, and makes him the apparent front-runner to succeed Chief Executive A.G. Lafley.

Patrice Louvet, who previously ran Prestige and Collections, will now become Group President of Global Beauty, reporting to Taylor.

Taylor and Louvet will be taking over from Deborah Henretta, who was unable to turn the brand’s beauty business around and will now occupy the role of Global President for E-Commerce. The reshuffle follows weak sales and poor market share growth in P&G’s beauty business in recent years.

A P&G spokesman commented, “These leadership changes are another step forward in improving strategies, capabilities and plans on key business priorities where P&G needs to win. It will continue to make us a simpler, more focused company that is faster growing and creating greater value for consumers and shareholders.”
