Polish finance minister slashes VAT for beauty

THE WHAT? Poland’s Ministry of Finance has announced a significant cut to the VAT charged on certain beauty services.

THE DETAILS The VAT rate charged will be reduced from the current 23 percent to 8 percent from April 1, 2024, according to a report published by Pap Business. The move is expected to benefit some 30,000 businesses.

THE WHY? Prime Minister Donald Tusk explained, per Pap Business, that the move was designed to level the playing field for the professional beauty camp who have long been subject to a higher rate of VAT than hairdressers.
