THE WHAT? Chile’s Ministry of Defence has invited interested parties to submit bids for its duty free stores at Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez Airport, according to a report published by the Moodie Davitt Report. The contract, which is managed and overseen by the government, is currently held by Dufry.
THE DETAILS The contract spans 12 years, with an option to extend for a further three and covers stores in Terminal 2’s departures and arrivals plus warehouse space, all in covering a total of 11,000 sq m. Submissions must be made by July 26.
THE WHY? As travel rebounds and passenger numbers recover, the travel retail channel is regaining lost ground.
