Unilever to invest US$400 million in Mexico

THE WHAT? Unilever is planning to build a new plant in Mexico’s Nuevo Leon region, according to a report published by Reuters. The manufacturer of Dove is planning to invest some US$400 million in the Latin American country over the next three years.

THE DETAILS The new facility will manufacture beauty and personal care products and create some 1,200 jobs (direct and indirect). The factory is expected to go online in 2024.

THE WHY? Mexico is a key center for exports to Latin and South America and, in the case of this new facility located in a border state, presumably also the US via Texas.
