AmorePacific marks completion of new ‘social’ HQ

AmorePacific held an official ceremony to mark the completion of its new headquarters in the Yongsan-gu district last week.

The new building has been eight years in design and construction and lies between a spacious public park and the business district.

The cube-shaped volume spans 216,000 square meters over 30 floors and includes a central courtyard and three large openings which flood the space with natural light and air. Inside, the building boasts a museum, auditorium, library, creche, restaurants, bars and cafes as part of a mission to contribute to the city’s social spaces.

“It is more than an office,” says David Chipperfield, Partner and Founder of the eponymous architect firm behind the design. “The building suggests generosity of spirit to the people who work here and the citizens. It is something that mediates between the company and the city. It shows how a company can participate in the larger community.”
