THE WHAT? Shiseido has announced the passing of its Honorary Chairman, Yoshiharu Fukuhara. A private wake and funeral have been held among close family members and a farewell gathering will be held at a later date.

THE DETAILS Born in 1931, Fukuhara joined Shiseido shortly after his graduation in 1953. He worked his way up the ranks, taking on his first senior role in 1978 as Director and General Manager of International Operations. He was named as Chairman of the Board in 1997 and Honorary Chairman in 2001.

THE WHY? The grandchild of the J-beauty’s Founder was 92 and died of natural causes.
