THE WHAT? Dior has announced the appointment of soccer star Kylian Mbappe as Global Ambassador.

THE DETAILS The French striker will lend his image to the creations of Kim Jones, Artistic Director for the LVMH-owned brand’s men’s collections and the Sauvage perfume.

“I am delighted to announce that I am now officially part of Maison Dior,” Mbappe posted on his Instagram account. “Can’t wait to share our collaborations in men’s fashion and Sauvage fragrance.”

THE WHY? Mbappe’s many achievements at the tender age of 22, both on and off the pitch, speak for themselves; Dior said in a statement that ‘it shares the same values of exacting standards and generosity’ with the world champion. And while it wasn’t explicitly referred to, we surmise that, in selecting Mbappe to front its Sauvage scent, Dior is also distancing itself from previous ambassador, Johnny Depp.
