Kose to build CO2-free manufacturing facility

THE WHAT? Kose has announced plans to build a facility using hydro-electric power, said to be the first of its kind in Japan. During its operational phase, the factory will draw on locally produced green hydrogen, and will be carbon neutral by 2040.

THE DETAILS According to a report published by Baoxaydung, Kose has signed a basic agreement with Yamanashi Prefecture and will break ground on the 111,525 square-meter site this month.

THE WHY? Kazutoshi Kobayashi, President of KOSÉ, told Baoxaydung, “We are fortunate to have found a local hydro energy source that aligns with our carbon neutrality efforts. We appreciate Kajima’s support in realizing construction with CO2-free electricity. We hope this kind of approach will become widespread.”
