Kose Q1 2024: operating profit soars 33.5 percent as net sales rise 13.8 percent

THE WHAT? Kose has reported its results for the first quarter of fiscal 2024. The J-beauty manufacturer saw sales leap 13.8 percent yoy (+9.9 percent excluding forex) to ¥77.5 billion while operating profit soared a massive 33.5 percent yoy to ¥7.9 billion.

THE DETAILS By region, Japan recorded net sales of ¥48.8 billion, up 18.2 pecrent yoy while net sales dropped 23.7 percent yoy in Asia, to ¥9.6 billion as a difficult market environment persisted in mainland China. Sales in Europe and North America rose 34.6 percent yoy, to ¥19 billion.

THE WHY? The J-beauty giant said that overall sales and profit increased as a result of strong sales of Tarte and Albion as well as major brands such as Sekkisei.
