THE WHAT? Aekung Industrial has announced its results for the first quarter of the current financial year. The K-beauty manufacturer said sales rose 7.7 percent yoy to KRW169.1 billion. Operating profit increased 6.8 percent to KRW16.5 billion.

THE DETAILS In terms of sales by unit, the cosmetics business reported sales of KRW63.1 billion, up 7.6 percent. The household goods division put on 7.7 percent for sales of KRW106 billion, according to a report published by MK.

THE WHY? Aekung revealed that growth in its cosmetics business came courtesy of expansion in Japan and Vietnam, K-beauty’s latest hotspots, as well as strong sales in China. It has launched recently in the US via global K-beauty distribution platform, Silicon 2.
